Heavy rainfalls and floods have submerged various parts of Baluchistan

Heavy rainfalls and floods have submerged various parts of Balochistan, causing massive destruction across the province. According to the latest updates, 111 lives have been claimed, excluding the Lasbela, Jhal Magsi, Kech, and Khuzdar districts.

Emergency Appeal

The details reveal that torrential monsoon rains have destructed ten districts of the province with 500 per cent more rain than recorded during the last 30 years.

Hundreds of people, including women and children, are stranded in the calamity-stricken areas seeking help from the authorities. The flood water has swept away many buildings, including houses and schools, making the situation alarming for locals.

Though Baluchistan Government has declared an emergency across the province and continues with the rescue operations in the devastated areas, the efforts are insufficient to provide relief to the flood victims. With hundreds and thousands left helpless in this calamity, it is time for us to join hands and help them overcome the effects of this disaster!

The first promise we made is a promise we still keep today: 100% of all public donations bring clean water to people in need.

Drop by Drop: Water Changes Lives

‘No intervention has a greater overall impact upon national development and public health than the provision of safe drinking water and the proper disposal of human waste’. [WHO]

Today, two out of every three people in the world lack access to safe water. Despite the massive scale of this crisis, your incredible generosity is allowing us to launch life-saving projects for communities across the globe every day. From constructing new wells to building water filtration plants, you are providing clean drinking water in a variety of ways.

We take a holistic approach to our projects, making sure people know how to use water sources safely, maintain new wells and keep up good health and hygiene practices. Our worldwide teams carry out water testing and set up local committees to manage water projects after they are completed, ensuring our interventions are sustainable and directly managed by the people we are helping.

This year, you helped us start our biggest project ever, rehabilitating water infrastructure in Aden, Yemen to provide water for life to a staggering 1.7 million people! With your continued support, we are now planning to rehabilitate water infrastructure in Ma’rib, providing clean water to over 1.2 million people, most of whom are families displaced by conflict in Yemen.

Drop by drop, every donation is making a difference to one more person. Clean water reduces the spread of deadly illnesses, puts more children in school, gives more women the opportunity to work, improves agriculture and ultimately revives and transforms an entire community.
